Hibernian Healthcare Sports First Aid Course Aims:
This course is designed for all personnel involved in sport in Ireland, who seek to make sport safer through improving their basic First Aid knowledge and skills.
Hibernian Healthcare Sports First Aid Course Outline:
- The basics of CPR for Adults and Children
- Compressions / Breaths
- How to use an AED (Automatic External Defibrillator)
- Identifying a Concussion
- Chest injuries including cardiac conditions (Angina)
- Foreign Body Airway Obstruction (Choking)
- Muscle injuries including sprains and strains
- Treating Dehydration
- Medical emergencies including Diabetes, Asthma, Epilepsy
- Facial injuries and treatment
- Abdominal injuries and treatment
- Emergency Services support
Hibernian Healthcare Sports First Aid Course Objectives:
- To ensure the candidate has the skills to provide basic First Aid
- To instil confidence in the candidate to deal with medical emergencies and cardiac arrests
- To instruct in the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED) and Adult and Child CPR
- The candidate is clear in his knowledge of the benefits of first response with regard to general injuries, wounds, fractures and strains
- The candidate is confident to deal with concussion

Certification in Sport First Aid in Ireland
A Hibernian Healthcare certificate valid for 2 years will also be issued on successful completion.
