Course Duration: 6 hours approx

Course Aims:  This course is designed for lay first responders and personnel involved in Healthcare.

Course Outline:

  • The basics of CPR for Adults & Children
  • Compressions / Ventilation
  • Ventilation with a Barrier Device (face mask)
  • Use an AED (Automatic External Defibrillator)
  • Foreign Body Airway Obstruction (Choking)
  • Stroke assessment and Treatment
  • Aspirin Administration
  • Legal Indemnity issues

 

Course Objectives:

  • To ensure the candidate has the skills to provide the vital first response in an emergency.
  • To instil confidence in the candidate to deal with emergencies and cardiac arrests.
  • To instruct in the use of Automated External Defibrillators
  • To instruct candidates in Adult & Children CPR
  • The candidate is clear in his knowledge of the benefits and the suitable administration of Aspirin

 

Who should attend:

This course is aimed at Lay persons who wish to be confidentin their initial reaction to cardiac conditions, stroke,

choking and develop the skills and knowledge necessary to handle these emergencies.

 

Certification:  

The course is delivered in accordance with PHECC (Pre Hospital Emergency Care Council) and the Irish Heart

Foundation (IHF) guidelines.

A PHECC certificate and an IHF card both valid for 2 years will be issued on successful completion.
